The Technology & Tourism in Lancaster County blog is a resource for discussion about trends and technology and how they affect the tourism industry in general and Lancaster County tourism more specifically. The focus of the discussions will mostly be targeted on how small to medium-sized businesses can leverage technology to their advantage, but we hope the things we’ll be talking about will be applicable to anyone using technology to promote their business.
About Me – Brian Evans
I love computers. There, I’ve said it. I’m not ashamed. I’ve been working in the technology field for more than 15 years and I still get the warm and fuzzies from powering on a new gadget, trying out a new website, or applying a new technology. I like it even more when I can figure out how to leverage any of those things for a business use.
My humble origins include helping on a new networking installation at a 3-hospital system in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Trust me, when you take away an AS/400 terminal from a nurses station that they’ve been using every day for the past 15 years and replace it with a Windows NT machine and escape alive, you would list it among your greatest career achievements as well.
Over the years I’ve worked as an Interactive Project Manager (CD-ROMs!), Usability Engineer, and Communications Director for clients such as Johnson & Johnson, Casio, Allstate, the University of Connecticut, Aetna, GE, and SunGard.
Currently, I’m proud to help promote visitation of Lancaster County (my home!) as the e-Marketing Manager at the PA Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau. I love handling any web projects, SEM, SEO, email marketing, and miscellaneous internet-related marketing opportunities that get thrown my way.
Last but certainly not least, I’m a husband of a born and bred Lancaster County lady (I’m a coal cracker import myself), a father of three busy boys, and an amateur photographer, which comes in handy both personally and professionally.
